Hotel Weekend

On the night of our wedding reception, the venue where we got married presented Ryan and me with a gift certificate to stay 1 night at the hotel where we stayed during our wedding weekend. They also gave us a gift certificate to use at a choice of 2 nearby restaurants.

Ryan and I finally got around to picking a weekend to use our gift certificates, and it was this past Saturday.  We started the day by doing some shopping before heading to the hotel. Ryan bought a couple North Face items at Dick's Sporting Goods, and I got some shampoo, conditioner, and OPI nailpolish at Ulta.   I also stopped into Motherhood Maternity and saw this really cute shirt:

I didn't get the shirt, althought I probably will when my bump is a little bit bigger.
Next, we checked into the Hampton Inn Westport. I got a tea from the lobby and cozied up in bed with plans to read one of the two books that I brought with me: Water for Elephants and The Baby Book.

And then I got this brilliant idea that we should drive 30 minutes to the Twin River Casino.  Ryan and I love casinos (Vegas was the first place we lived together), and we had never been to Twin River.  So we got dressed and Ry snapped a quick picture of my growing bump before we headed out.

After a quick 30 minute drive, we were there, and it was nothing great from the outside. Once we got inside, I needed to eat, so we roamed around and noticed that several food places and stores had been closed. I ended up getting a Veggie Delite sub from Subway, and it tasted AMAZING!  Unfortunately, to get to the food court, we had to walk through the slot area that allows smoking. But, the sub actually turned out to be the best part of our trip to Twin River.  Next, Ry and I roamed around the smoke-free slot area on the second floor, but weren't really able to find any slots similar to the ones we love in Vegas. It didn't seem like anyone was winning anything on any machine.  So after a short time, we headed back to Westport to get dinner.  Note: This place was so lame that we didn't take a single picture.

Ryan and I originally packed some fancy clothes to wear to our dinner on Saturday night. We had originally planned to eat at Bittersweet Farm.

But then we decided to stay in our comfy clothes instead of changing back at the hotel, and we ate at The Galley Grille instead.  This was the first time we ate at this restaurant. I didn't have much of an appetite for anything so I got a hamburger and Ryan got the Fisherman's Platter. Neither of us were terribly impressed with our meals, but they were good enough.  We got a pizza to go, and went back to the hotel to watch the Patriots/Broncos game.

I woke up at 3:50am with a terrible migraine and proceeded to throw up (why do I still have morning sickness in my 14th week of pregnancy).  Ryan is the best husband and actually left the hotel in 10 degree weather to go to the store for some Tylenol.  He doesn't even complain. He just takes really good care of me (Thanks, Ry)!  After a couple more hours of sleep, we got breakfast and headed home to our very happy pets.   Thank goodness that we both have another day of rest before returning to work!
