Wedding

First comes love; then comes marriage...

We were married on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Ned's Point Light in Mattapoisett, MA, and we had the most amazing ceremony and reception ever!  Our ceremony was outdoors on the lawn of a lighthouse, and the weather was perfect...not too hot and not too cold!  It rained buckets for the 5 days before the wedding, but by Thursday, it all cleared and the ground dried!  Phew!

On Friday, August 27, 2010 Ryan and I woke up early. I went to get a manicure and Ry brought our dogs to dog camp/the kennel. When I got home, we finished with packing. The car was stuffed full and we barely fit!  We drove down to the hotel, checked into our separate rooms, and then to my horror, I realized...I forgot to grab Ry's pants for the rehearsal dinner!  I put so much effort into choosing our outfits, and I was so disappointed in myself.  We were over an hour from home, but luckily, there was a Kohl's 7 miles down the road (that's where I got them).  We drove there, and they had them on clearance!  So we headed back, pre-filled some of the candy buffet jars, practiced dancing, and then took showers to get ready for our rehearsal.  The rehearsal was so much fun, mostly because I got to give my bridesmaids all the presents that I made for them!

After the rehearsal, we all went back to the hotel and got in our pjs. We hung out until just before midnight, and then Ryan and I said goodbye til the ceremony. The girls and I went back to the bridal suite, and the guys stayed in the groom's room.  I had a hard time falling asleep, but around 2am, I think I finally did.  I slept about 6 hours, and then it was my wedding day!  The girls and I went down to the hotel lobby for continental breakfast, and then back to the room to take showers. The hairstylist arrived at 10:30am.  My best friend got her hair done first, but in hindsight, I definitely should have gone first.  Then the make up artist arrived at 12. She was supposed to stay until 4pm, but she said she had to leave at 1:30.  I was stressed, because I didn't know how she would get all our our makeup done before then, and also she was leaving before we could get our "getting ready" pics.  It turned out to be a total disaster. My sister's false lashes started to fall off, and my makeup was NOT at all like my trial.

I got my hair done last, and in hindsight, this wasn't a good idea, because I was stuck in my chair getting curled instead of running around doing last minute stuff. My bridesmaids were SOOO great...I felt like a monster, bossing people around from my seat, but I needed stuff done!!! So we had like 15 minutes to get the "must have shots" before having to get into the limo to get to the ceremony.

We hop in the limo and head to the ceremony. Our timing is perfect. We pull up to the lighthouse at 5:15pm.  The ceremony starts exactly on time! As the limo pulls up, it feels like a dream.  I see everyone in there chairs waiting for us.  The aisle runner that I painted is tacked down, and my pomanders are just where I wanted them.  I feel great.  The bridesmaids walk down the aisle to the guitarist playing the instrumental of Yellow by Coldplay. This is the first time I've heard him play, and it's AMAZING!  Then my brother walks me down the aisle, and the guitarist plays James Blunt, You're Beautiful. It was breathtaking.

We had a rock ceremony, presented my grandparents with a rose, and then exchanged vows.

Ceremony over..picture time.  I made a list of MUST HAVE PHOTOS and somehow the photographer managed to miss a bunch of important shots.

The limo ride to the reception was so much fun! I had a couple glasses of champagne, laughed with everyone, and then we arrived!!! We were introduced, had our first dance, and then dinner was a blur.  We ate for about 5 minutes.  If I could do it all over, I definitely would have a receiving line!  The reception was awesome.  Perfectly decorated by our florist/decorator, the food was awesome, and our friends and family were hilarious!  It was amazing!!

We left for our honeymoon the next morning...Destination: Las Vegas, the first place where we lived together.  We hit up all our old date spots and had a blast!
